This is my athama's chutney my husband's favourite is quite tasty and lickable gives a good taste to the dishes that you mix it with.
Wash the tomatoes and onions and cut into small pieces and fry them separately and keep aside.
Also dry fry the mustard and fenugreek seeds and keep aside. Also fry the tamarind piece till soft.
Now first grind the mustard and fenugreek seeds and to this add tomato, salt and chili powder and grind to a smooth and creamy paste Then remove in a dish.
Now grind the onions and garlic and add this to the tomato paste and mix well.
Take a pan add 2 tsp oil, temper with mustard and cumin seeds, add curry leaves and when they splutter add to the chutney and mix well and serve.
