Very tasty and nutritious breakfast filling and provides both carbs and proteins. Rich in B1, B9 and iron. Good for toddlers too.
Wash rice and soak them in water for 4 hours.
Then grind the pepper cones, cumin and ginger piece roughly and keep aside.
Now take the cooker add 3 tsp oil and add dal fry then add the rice and throw away the water.
Add salt and ground paste and pour 6 glasses of water and close the lid and cook for 4 minutes after the whistle and switch off.
If you want to add milk then add 1 glass milk and 5 glasses water.
Then take a pan add rest of the oil add curry leaves and then add this to pongal also add the ghee and mix well and serve hot.
If you want you can also add 2 slit green chilies and coriander leaves for a nice aroma.
Fry some cashew nuts and also add to the pongal.
