Tomato Guju Kura

simple curry very easy to make even children can make it.  It is so tasty with chapathis.  Also good with bread.  You can also add other vegetables like carrot, peas, potato, cauliflower.  Peas go well with this curry.

Ingredients

  • 6 Tomatoes Big
  • 3 Onions
  • 1 Green Chili finely chopped
  • 2 tsp Fried channa Dal Powder ( papulapodi )
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp chili Powder level tsp
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Fresh Cream or Coconut paste ( optional )
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste

Instructions

  1. First chop the onions and tomatoes into small pieces.  Now take a pan add 6 tsp oil and temper with 1/2 tsp of mustard and cumin seeds and 5 curry leaves as they splutter add onions and fry till translucent.

  2. Then add ginger garlic paste, turmeric and fry for 2 minutes then add tomatoes, green chili, salt, chili powder and coriander powder and fry for another 3 minutes till the tomatoes are mushy.

  3. Now add fried chana dal powder and fry then add 1/4 cup water and close lidand cook for 5 minutes after whistle and switch off. 

  4. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rotis.  If you are adding peas you can add them when you add tomatoes then you need to cook for 10 minutes as peas take longer to cook.
