Tomato Charu (Rasam)
Very tasty with rice a good digestive soup and also provides you with Vitamin C and A, calcium, fiber etc. IT is also rich in Vitamin B9 ( folate ) needed for pregnant women.
Ingredients
- 4 Tomatoes big
- 7 Garlic Cloves
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric
- !/2 tsp Salt leveled
- 1/2 tsp Pepper Pods
Instructions

First wash the tomatoes and cut them into pieces and take them in a cooker and pour 1/4 glass water and boil them for 7 minutes after the whistle and switch off and let cool

Take pepper and garlic and grind it into a paste and keep aside.

After it cools smash the tomatoes or grind them and take them in a vessel.

Now take a pan add 3 tsp oil and add 1/2 tsp of mustard and cummin seeds and 5 curry leaves when they splutter add this to the tomato paste and pour water and mix to a loose soup consistency.

Add, turmeric and salt and put this vessel on low flame and boil. When it starts to boil add pepper and garlic powder or paste and mix well and leave to boil for another 7 minutes and switch off

Put some finely chopped coriander leaves and serve hot. We do not use dal in this recipe. You can add a tsp of ghee instead of oil during tempering. Add salt to your liking.
