Thiragamatha Annam Bibi's

Bibi is our cook and she makes the best thiragamathaanam.  I love it. I am a vegetarian and cannot eat chicken or mutton biryanis so i asked her to make plain biryani for me and she made this and from that time i always make this when ever i feel like treating myself with muslim plain biryani.

Ingredients

  • 2 glasses Rice
  • 4 glasses Water
  • 2 Onions
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 20 Pudina Leaves (mint)
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 5 tbsp Oil

For the Masala

  • 18 cloves Garlic
  • 11/2 inch Ginger Piece
  • 1 cup Chopped coriander leaves
  • 4 Green Chilies
  • 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 11/2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. First grind the ingredients given for the masala into a paste.

  2. Cut the onions length wise.  Wash and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.  

  3. Wash the rice and soak it in water for 1 hour.  

  4. Then take a dish and add oil and ghee to this add 4 cloves, 4 cinnamon small pieces and onions and fry till golden brown.

  5. Now add tomatoes and fry till mushy you can add tej patta for smell.

  6. Then add masala and fry till oil comes up now add the rice and fry for some time then add 4 glasses water and 2 tbsp lime juice and mix well and let boil once it starts to boil decrease the flame to sim and cook till all the water is evaporated and the rice gets cooked well.  

  7. Switch off and serve hot with kurma and curd chutney.

  8. You can also cook it in rice cooker.
