Raw Mango Chutney

This chutney can be seen in every south Indian house during the summer season when mangoes are available abundantly. It is very tasty when mixed with rice and dal or sambar.  I like it best with curds rice.  Raw mangoes are supposed to cool your body. Rich in Vitamin C. They are immunity boosters.

Ingredients

  • 1 big Raw Mango
  • 7 Red Chilies Dry
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • !/4 tsp Fenugreek Seeds
  • 5 Garlic Cloves

Instructions

  1. Wash the mango and cut into small pieces and keep aside.

  2. Fry the red chilies, fenugreek and mustard seeds and take all the ingredients in the grinding jar and grind to a rough paste.

  3. The chutney should not be too smooth. It tastes better wnen you can feel the mango pieces.  So it is best to grind the chilies, fenugreek and mustard first and then add the mango pieces and grind for two three rounds and switch off.

  4. Tempering is very important for this chutney, take a pan add 2 tsp oil and add 1/2 tsp of mustard and channa dal and when they splutter add 4 curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida, switch off and add this to the chutney and mix well
