Pulagam

Very nutritious rice item.  Most south Indians eat this rice atleast once a week with peanut chutney and pachipulusu.  It has abundance of fiber and good to remove constipation.  Green gram in high in protein content so good for non vegetarians, they can get enough protein this way. Also peanuts are also rich in proteins and iron, calcium, B vitamins etc.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 glass Rice
  • 1/2 glass Green Gram split with skin more fiber and more tastier
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Optional
  • 2 tsp Ghee or Oil Optional

Instructions

  1. Soak green gram and rice in water for three to four hours. 

  2. Wash them well.  Take cooker or a thick bottomed vessel add rice and green gram. now pour 21/2 glasses water add salt and oil.  Mix well and once it starts to boil decrease the flame to low and cook till done.

  3. Some also add tadka its your wish. i like it without, less oil and more healthy.
