Prawn Fry

Prawns are my favourite and this is one of my most loved fries.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg Prawn
  • 1 lemon sized Tamarind Ball
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 11/2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 11/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 Onions big
  • 2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 Tomato
  • 2 tbsp Desiccated Dry Coconut
  • 1 bunch Coriander Leaves
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder optional

Instructions

  1. Wash the prawns thoroughly and keep aside. Cut the tomato and onions into fine pieces. Soak the tamarind in water for half an hour and extract the juice and keep aside.

  2. Take a thick vessel or cooker add 2 tbsp oil, salt, turmeric, chili powder and ginger garlic paste and fry for some time now add 1/2 glass water and cook for 7 minutes after whistle.

  3. Now take a pan add 3 tbsp oil and add onions and fry till lightly brown and then add tomatoes and coconut paste and fry for 5 minutes then add prawns and cook till all the water leaves and the oil starts to come to surface,

  4. If you want you can add coriander powder now and fry till gravy is golden in colour and garnish with coriander leaves and switch off.

  5. Serve hot with rice chapati or pulkas.
