The consistency of this curry should be like sambar, it is very tasty with ragi mudha. It tastes good with any of the other millets too. It is a great combination with vada and dosa too. You should learn to make this curry for it is easy and tasty and goes well with all. I Think even with pastas you should try and see.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 kg Mutton
  • 4 tbsp Desiccated Coconut dry or fresh
  • 2 tsp Poppy Seeds
  • 2 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 3 Cardamom
  • 4 Cloves
  • 4 small pieces Cinnamon
  • 4 Onions medium
  • 2 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 11/2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 cup Curd
  • 1 Tomato optional

Instructions

  1. First wash the mutton thoroughly and take it in a cooker and let cook till all the water from the mutton evaporates.

  2. Mean While grind the coconut, coriander seeds, poppy seeds, cloves, cinnamon and cardamom. Cut the Onion into small pieces if you are using tomato cut it also.

  3. Now take a pan add oil and put the onions and fry till light brown add tomatoes and ginger garlic paste and fry for 3 minutes keep stirring. Then add the ground masala and fry till oil surfaces and the masala gets golden brown.

  4. Then add the above masala to the mutton in the cooker mix well add salt. chili powder, curd and salt and fry for 2 minutes and pour 1/2 glass water and close the lid and cook for 15 minutes after the whistle and switch off. 

  5. Open the lid only after the pressure decreases in the cooker add 1/2 tsp coriander powder and garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
