Majjiga Pulusu (with Butter Milk)

A very popular stew in the households of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Can be useful to make if you have a lot of curd left which has turned sour. One way of recycling and prevent wastage of our dairy product.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Channa Dal
  • 1 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 tsp Rice
  • 1 tsp Moong Dal
  • 4 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 Small piece Ginger
  • 1 Big piece Fresh Coconut
  • 4 Green Chillies
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Channa Dal
  • 1/2 tsp Urad Dal
  • 8 Curry Leaves

Instructions

  1. Fry the following:

    Coriander seeds

    Green Chillies

    Moong Dal

  2. The Rice and Channa Dal have to be soaked in water for an hour

  3. Grind all the above ingredients and then mix it with Butter milk.

  4. Add the following on a pan to create the seasoning

    Oil

    tsp Mustard seeds

    Cumin Seeds

    tsp Channa dal

    Urad dal

    Curry Leaves


  5. Add the Butter Milk we made to the above mixture in the pan.

  6. Boil for 2 min in low heat and switch off.

  7. Following vegetables can be added to the above mixture if needed for a healthier dish:

    2 Drumsticks

    1/2 cup Bottle guard

    2 Cucumber

    2 Carrot

    10 Beans

    2 cups Pumpkin
