Kovu Kura

This curry has lot of fat kovu means fat. You cook mutton pieces in fat most tasty curry. Once you eat it you will not forget it, you will keep dreaming about it. Once in three months is not such a bad thing if you indulge yourself with this tasty curry.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg Mutton
  • 1/2 cup Fat from the mutton
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 3 tsp Chili Powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 2 Garlic Pods

Instructions

  1. Take two garlic pods and remove the skin and keep aside.  From those take 7 garlic cloves, chili powder and coriander powder and blend them in blender and keep aside.

  2. Wash the mutton and squeeze out the excess water and take it in a thick bottomed vessel add fat and let cook add turmeric and salt, water will come out of the mutton let the mutton cook in that water till it becomes soft. 

  3. You can add some more water if it the mutton is not well cooked, cook it with lid closed and on low flame keep stirring in between.

  4. When half cooked add the garlic cloves and cook till the meat is tender and the oil starts to ooze now add the chili, garlic and coriander powder and fry for another 4 minutes.  If you need more salt or chili powder you can add.

  5. Switch off and serve hot.
