Kandagada Thalimpu (Yam Fry)
Kandagada Thalimpu
This is a tasty side dish can also be cooked with raw bananas.
Ingredients
- 1/4 kg Yam
- 2 tbsp Curd
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 2 tsp Grated Coconut
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Salt
- 4 tbsp Oil
Instructions

First grind coriander powder and coconut together and keep aside.

Clean the yam thoroughly and peel the skin and cut the yam into thin flat pieces like chips but not that thin but a little thicker or into small pieces whichever way you like.

Take the yam pieces in a dish add salt, turmeric, chili powder,curds and the masala. Mix everything evenly and keep aside to marinate for about 1 hour.

Then take a pan add oil and temper it (1/2 tsp of cumin and mustard seeds, 1 tsp of channa and urad dal and 7 curry leaves) once they splutter add the yam pieces and fry for 5 minutes. Keep stirring on and off.

Now pour !/2 glass water and let cook till the yam is nicely done. Keep frying till the yam becomes Chewy. Garnish with coriander leaves and switch off. You can add 1/2 tsp lime juice if you want.

Serve hot with rice and dal. Its heavenly. do not for get to add ghee to double the taste.
