Fish Curry ( with tamarind Juice)

This curry has more gravy and should not be made too dry.  Tasty curry and different from the usual dry fries. Try it you might like it more than the other fries. Cut the fish into Big pieces or it might get smashed when you are frying it.

Ingredients

  • 8 big Fish Pieces
  • 2 Onions
  • 1 lemon sized Tamarind Ball
  • 6 Green Chilies
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 11/2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 2 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 tsp Poppy Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Desiccated Coconut
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 8 garlic cloves
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 cardamom
  • 4 pieces Cinnamon
  • 5 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. First wash the fish pieces and keep aside.  Cut the onions into small pieces and slit the green chilies into two. Now take thick bottomed vessel or a pan and add oil and add onion and chili pieces and fry till translucent and then add the fish, salt, turmeric and chili powder and fry for 5 minutes add 1/4 glass water and close with a lid and let cook.

  2. Mean while fry the coriander, cumin, poppy, and grind them along with coconut, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and garlic and keep aside.

  3. Also wash and soak the tamarind for half an hour and smash it with hand and squeeze out the juice and throw away the pulp.

  4. Now add this tamarind juice to the fish and cook also add the ground masala mix well and let cook till the fish gets cooked well and the oil starts to surface.  Keep stirring in between, Do it slowly so you do not smash the fish pieces.

  5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot. All the tamarind water should evaporate and the gravy should get close. It is a wet gravy curry.
