Drumstick and Peas Kurma

Quite easy to make If you have the masala ready then it will take only 10 minutes to make this kurma. Very tasty with rice, biryani, fried rice, chapaties, rotis, breads. It goes with all. Drumstick is very rich source of Vitamin C and fiber low in sodium so even heart patients can eat it. Peas rich in proteins, Folates, Riboflavin, thiamin, Vitamin C and A.  Cook and enjoy eating it.

Ingredients

  • 3 Long Drumsticks
  • 1 cup Peas
  • 2 Tomatoes big
  • 2 Onions small
  • 4 tbsp Desiccated Coconut
  • 3 tbsp Corriander Seeds
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 8 Garlic Cloves
  • 2 green Chillies
  • 5 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. First clean the drumsticks and cut them into 2 inch long pieces. Cut the onions and tomatoes into small pieces and keep aside. Slit the green chilies and keep aside.

  2. Fry the coriander seeds till a nice aroma comes and grind them along with desiccated coconut and 6 garlic cloves. keep 2 cloves aside for seasoning.

  3. Now take a cooker and add oil and temper with 1/2 tsp of mustard and cumin seeds and when they start to splutter add curry leaves, onions and 2 garlic cloves and fry for 2 minutes.

  4. Then add drumstick pieces and peas and add the masala, salt, turmeric and chili powder and fry for 3 minutes keep stirring in between. 

  5. Now add tomatoes and fry till they soften and now pour 1/2 glass water or more according to the consistency you want and close the lid and cook for 7 minutes after the whistle blows.

  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
