Beerakaya Pesarapapu Kura Durga's ( Ridge Gourd Green gram Curry )
Me and my cook Durga experimented this curry and it came out real tasty. My son also loved this curry You can also try it and enjoy a tasty dish and nutritious dish.
Ingredients
- 2 big Ridge Gourds
- 2 Medium Onions finely chopped
- 1/2 cup Green gram Dal
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric
- 3/4 tsp Salt
- pinch Asafoetida (inguva)
- 1/2 tsp Chili Powder
For the Paste
- 2 Green Chilies
- 3 Garlic Cloves
- 11/2 inch Ginger Piece
Instructions

Wash the ridge gourd peel the skin and cut into medium pieces. Also cut the onions and keep aside.

Grind the ginger garlic and chilies into paste and keep aside.

Now take a pan add 5 tsp oil and 1/2 tsp Ghee and add tempering ( 1/2 tsp of mustard and cumin seeds and 5 curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida.

When mustard crackles add onion pieces, ginger garlic and chili paste and turmeric and fry till translucent then add the ridge gourd pieces and salt, let cook for 5 minutes then add the soaked green gram and chili powder and Close with a lid.

You can add 3/4 glass water and cook the gourd and dal. When they get cooked nicely switch off and garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or rotis.
