A dish which hold all the nutrients in it. it has rice for carbs, it has dal for proteins and it has vegetables for fiber and nutrients. It is tasty too more tasty than sambar and rice cooked separately. It is time consuming as you can make only this dish and papad to go with it. All those bachelors out there you can make this dish and get all the nutrition you need for a meal. so try it you will be making it again and again.

Ingredients

  • 2 glass Rice
  • 1 glass Tur Dal (kandi papu)
  • 1 orange sized ball Tamarind
  • 1/2 Coconut grated
  • 12 Dry Chilies
  • 21/2 tsp Channa Dal(senagapapu)
  • 1 tsp Urad dal (mina papu)
  • 1 tsp Cumin (jilakara)
  • 1 tsp Coriander seeds (daniyalu)
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 5 tbsp Oil
  • 2 Carrots
  • 1 cup Beans finely chopped
  • 1 cup Peas
  • 2 Potato big
  • 1 Onion (optional)
  • 2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and dal and cook them in 6 glasses of water in cooker. cook for 7 minutes after the whistle blows.

  2. Wash and cut all the vegetables and boil them and keep aside. You need to cook them for 5 minutes after whistle blows.

  3. Now fry the dry chilies, chana dal,cumin, coriander seeds, urad dal, and blend them in a mixie also grind the raw coconut and keep aside.

  4. Now take a pan add oil and temper it with 1/2 tsp mustard, 1 tsp urad dal and 8 curry leaves and when they splutter add two pinches of Hing (inguva) and you can add onions if you want add the masala, salt and fry then add the tamarind juice ( soak the tamarind and squeeze it out and strain) cook for 5 minutes.

  5. Now add all the vegetables and cook for another 5 minutes.  Now add this cooked vegetables to the rice and dal and mix thoroughly.   

  6. To the end add ghee and garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
