Ingredients

  • 11/2 glass Rice,Basmathi
  • 1/2 kg Chicken
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Chili powder
  • 3/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 cup Curd
  • 1/2 cup Coconut Milk
  • 5 Green Chilies
  • 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 Onions big
  • 3 cloves
  • 5 Cinnamon pieces
  • 1/2 Lemon
  • 5 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tbsp Ghee

Instructions

  1. Soak the rice in water after washing it.  Wash the chicken thoroughly and take it in a bowl to it add salt, turmeric, ginger garlic paste, chili powder and curd and mix well, keep aside to marinate for half an hour.

  2. Take one onion cut into small pieces and fry with little oil till brown and keep aside for garnishing on  top.

  3. Grind raw coconut and squeeze out the milk and keep aside or you can use ready made coconut milk from stores.

  4. Fry the other onion and chilies till translucent and grind both in mixer and keep aside.

  5. Now take a cooker and put the marinated chicken add ghee, oil, green chili and onion paste, clove and cinnamon pieces and cook for 4 minutes after the whistle( if using lamb then cook for 15 minutes).

  6. Then take a wide bottomed dish put rice and 3 Glasses of water  and cook. When nearly done switch off and if there is water left then drain it and keep aside.

  7. Now take a wide thick bottomed dish the rice and the chicken has to be arranged in layer form one top of the other. Firstly put little of the rice on top arrange the chicken and pour little coconut milk on top again put rice and on the rice again chicken and coconut milk ( in the coconut milk mix the half a lemon juice).  Now cook on low flame till all the moisture is gone and the rice is cooked just right.

  8. It might take 10 minutes or less. keep checking it or it might get burnt. Switch off and serve hot.
