Easy Potato Curry

Very easy to make and tastes good with rice or chapaties.

Ingredients

  • 5 Potatoes
  • 2 Onions
  • 2 tsp Coriander seeds
  • 4 tbsp Desiccated Coconut
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 2 Cinnamon pieces
  • 2 Cloves

Instructions

  1. First grind coconut and fried coriander seeds and keep aside.

  2. Wash, peel and cut the potatoes into medium pieces and keep aside you can also add 1/4 cup fresh peas if you want.

  3. Take a pan add oil and temper with 1/4 tsp mustard seeds and one dried red chili and 4 curry leaves when they start to splutter add onions and fry till brown.

  4. Now add cinnamon and cloves and masala and ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes till the raw smell leaves the masala. Now add potatoes, salt, turmeric and chili powder and fry for another 2 minutes now add water (1/2 glass water) and cover with lid and cook till the potatoes are done. 

  5. Stir in between and when the oil starts to come to the surface switch off and serve hot.  This curry is in between kurma and fry so can be served as a main dish.
