Peanut Powder ( Chenikaya Podi )

This powder is my husband's favourite. He eats it with anything and everything possible. It is very tasty and nutritious high in proteins, iron, calcium etc.  Children also will enjoy this powder in dosas and idlis.

Ingredients

  • 2 hands full Groundnuts
  • 5 tbsp Urad Dal
  • 5 tsps Coriander Seeds
  • 2 tsp Cumin
  • 7 Garlic Cloves
  • 6 Red Chilies
  • 3/4 tsp Salt leveled
  • 1 Small Ball Tamarind

Instructions

  1. Fry the peanuts take out the outer coating and keep aside.

  2. Next fry the urad, coriander and cumin.  Also head the tamarind till it softens.

  3. Now take all the ingredients in the grinder and add salt and garlic and grind to a smooth powder.  

  4. Store in a air tight container.  You can also put it in the fridge if you want it to last for few days.
